Trip Overview

The best of the Pacific Northwest awaits you on this 13-day scenic rail holiday! Your journey begins in Vancouver, where you will tour the diverse city, visiting the waterfront and stopping at top attractions such as Stanley Park and the Vancouver Lookout. While in Vancouver, take a day tour to Victoria and discover the charms of the city and the delightful Butchart Gardens. From there, take the train down to Seattle and discover the best sights of the ‘Emerald City,’ from the Space Needle to Pike Place Market. Next up is Portland, where you’ll discover the city on a sightseeing cruise. You will then board the Amtrak’s Coast Starlight train for the journey south through the snow-capped Cascade Mountain range towards San Francisco. While in San Francisco, you will have plenty of time to see such iconic attractions as the Golden Gate Bridge and Fisherman’s Wharf. Wine lovers take note - you will also take a special tour out to Napa and Sonoma Valley. This rail journey of the great Pacific Northwest has something for everyone!

DAY 1              YOUR JOURNEY BEGINS IN VANCOUVER
Welcome to Vancouver! Travel on your own to your hotel and start exploring this nature lover's paradise, where the majestic mountains meet the serene coast. (Overnight in Vancouver)

DAY 2              VANCOUVER
Today's full day of sightseeing begins with a hop-on, hop-off sightseeing tour that will take you to all of Vancouver's most popular attractions, including Stanley Park, Chinatown, Gastown, Granville Island, and more! The tour will feature live commentary, so you will get to learn what makes Vancouver so special. Feel free to hop on and off at any of the stops to explore them at your own leisure. Today also includes admission to the Vancouver Lookout, which towers hundreds of feet over the city. Sweeping 360-degree views of Vancouver await you at the top! (Overnight in Vancouver)

DAY 3               VANCOUVER TO VICTORIA
Enjoy time in beautiful Victoria today. Set on the sparkling Strait of Juan de Fuca, at the southern tip of Vancouver Island, this quaint coastal gem has a dynamic blend of serene mountain views, historic charm, and urban appeal. It also offers breath-taking views of the Olympic Mountains. View the spectacular displays at Butchart Gardens and discover the many other top sights of this scenic city, including the famous Fairmont Empress Hotel, Fisherman’s Wharf and Christ Church Cathedral. DAY 4              VANCOUVER TO SEATTLE
Head to the train station today for the scenic journey to Seattle onboard Amtrak’s Cascades train. Upon arrival in Seattle, check in at your hotel and take the rest of the day to explore the city. (Overnight in Seattle)

DAY 5              SEATTLE
Use your included CityPASS, as well as your hop-on, hop-off sightseeing passes to discover the city today. Visit all the city’s top attractions, including the world-famous Pike Place Market! Your fun-filled day in Seattle also includes a ride to the top of the Space Needle, the most iconic structure in the city, and access to the Chihuly Garden and Glass Exhibit. (Overnight in Seattle)

DAY 6               SEATTLE
Spend the day at your leisure discovering more of Seattle. Stroll the waterfront, take in the Seattle Aquarium, or discover the Museum of Pop Culture. Or simply relax in one of the many coffee shops that made the area famous and mingle with the friendly locals. (Overnight in Seattle)

DAY 7              PORTLAND
Travel to the Seattle train station and board the Coast Starlight bound for Portland. Upon arrival, check in at your hotel for a two-night stay and set out to discover “The City of Roses.” If you’re looking for something to do, Portland has more than 30 local breweries. It is also a shopper’s paradise as there is no sales tax. With all the excitement of a big city and the charm of a small town, Portland is an amazing destination with so much to offer. DAY 8               PORTLAND
Discover more of Portland today! Stroll through the many sprawling urban parks en route to a wonderful array of museums, art galleries, antique stores and vintage shops, cafes and bistros. DAY 9              OVERNIGHT ONBOARD AMTRAK
Continue to enjoy Portland today, then make your way to the train station for your overnight journey onboard the Coast Starlight to San Francisco. Take in views from the train of the snow-capped Cascade Mountain range and enjoy comfortable accommodations onboard. (Overnight onboard Amtrak)

DAY 10             SAN FRANCISCO
Arrive in San Francisco this morning and have a full day to adventure around the city. Check into your hotel and then begin to use your multi-day hop-on, hop-off sightseeing tour to see the most popular landmarks in the city such as Union Square, the Haight Ashbury district, and Chinatown. DAY 11             SAN FRANCISCO
Continue to explore San Francisco on your hop-on, hop-off tour of the city. With stops at Golden Gate Park, Pier 39, and the Palace of the Arts, this tour is perfect for visiting all of the top attractions in the “Bay City”. (Overnight in San Francisco)

DAY 12             SAN FRANCISCO
